The brief

Modernise the website of a medical editor in Barcelona: clearer and more direct, in Spanish and English, keeping her profile, services and track record across six pages.

Decisions

1. A custom design system, “Galerada”: the site as the printer’s proof of a scientific paper, paper and ink with a single accent, the proofreader’s red.
2. Real editorial marks in the interface: the caret, “stet”, “Fig. 1”, “Table 1”.
3. Static Astro with no framework JavaScript on the client; no WebGL or scroll-jacking, and a complete no-JS and reduced-motion experience.
4. Data rigour: publications come from Crossref by DOI, and edited work is never presented as her own.
5. No CMS or backend: less to maintain and less to secure.

Outcome

Review version published on Cloudflare Pages, with an initial catalogue of 152 publications and 156 photos.

• Self-hosted fonts: Newsreader, Instrument Sans and IBM Plex Mono.
• A script blocks publishing while legal details are missing.
